1) Strive for Greatness

We all should strive to do something great in our lifetime.

However, if your reasons for achieving greatness are to impress others, you are severely handicapping what you are capable of.

When I speak about greatness, I mean finding what you are uniquely capable of providing and presenting that service to as many others as possible. This can come in the form of skills, knowledge or resources. At different points in your life, you will have none of these, then one of them, then all of them in varying amounts. Your goal in striving is to understand which of these you have and to provide them in abundance. By doing so, you guarantee that you will be a positive force in the world and inspire those around you.

To be a positive force in the world is the greatest calling that you can answer. It just takes a certain amount of dedication to knowing yourself to find what that is.

2) Do it for the right reasons

In my past, I had such a negative outlook on the world.

I felt it was a cruel and lonely place: full of mistakes, errors and small-minded people trying to dominate one another while not realizing their issues are due to their egotistical way of life.

In many ways, I was right.

We are in a time where people are unsure. The insecure are seeking power and finding whatever avenue they can to exert that power over others. To some degree, we all share this flaw and it is human nature to succumb at times to it’s beck and call.

There are also those who have a good nature at heart. They want to overcome many of these flaws that hold us back as people trapped in our own minds. So while people are looking to destroy, others want to be a positive force and build.

Those people need a guide. They need someone who can inspire them that better is possible and that there is a mission that can push them to better their priorities.

That can be you.

That should be you.

You can be the force in the world that moves mountains. And by doing so, you show others that it is possible, inspiring them to move mountains in their own way.

By doing so, every person that you touch in a positive light will start to generate so much inertia that it will create a movement.

And that is how great things happen.

It is your duty to find your gifts and blessings, and to share them.

Whatever you are uniquely qualified to provide is that gift. You have so much to give that it would be selfish of you to keep that from the rest of the world. The challenge is finding what that is, so you can begin to provide it.

So my message to you is this: Create. Keep being the light that shines upon this world.

By doing so, you are making a difference. And bit by bit, something momentous will happen.

Once you’ve discovered your path, people will need you. You will start to see others try to bathe in the light you are starting to emit. Something about you will be different, and it is your mission to cultivate that.

By being of service.

By being a force for good.

3) Understand that no legacy is without its flaws

You need to make mistakes.

You need to fail.

Yes, you will encounter setbacks, but that does not destroy your entire output.

Humans are flawed, and that includes you. Love people without judgment for their mistakes and inspire them to do better.

“A sign of maturity is the ability to love one part of somebody and hate another, without throwing the entire person aside the moment you find something about them that isn’t the way you like..”.

- Alex Hormozi

The pursuit of something great will come with its drawbacks. You will trust people who will do you wrong, and you will share information that may get used against you. You might fall of the path on the way upwards.

That’s okay. Reset, readjust, and decide to do better next time. Two steps forward and one step back is still moving forward. Do not let your mistakes stop lead you away from your mission.

4) Be on Record

Record everything.

Document everything.

Have it be public.

Building in silence is amazing if you actually produce the end result. Curating your brand is something that comes later with the power and responsibility of needing to be responsible with what you make.

But the beginning steps of the journey towards crafting your legacy are not the time to be silent and mysterious. Put yourself out there and change your life. Let people have something to look back on and explore. The journey upwards is inspiring enough itself.

Only when you’ve reached a point of success that less exposure is beneficial for you will it be time to share less.

Wait until then.

5) Be Authentic

You can’t manipulate your way into winning.

Success will drive people to you. If you are winning, many of the problems in life will sort themselves out.

But winning will come with a new set of problems too.

A tricky situation in life can be that you perceive people like you for a certain reason so you double down on being that. If this is within your nature, fine - embrace it!

If this is something that requires you to fake your nature, this will pose an issue. You will spend the rest of your life as an actor, wearing a mask that you had no say in putting on.

Think of trying to get an ex back by telling them, “you’ve changed”. When in actuality, the way to actually get them back would be to genuinely grow as a person and hope they end up noticing.

6) Give yourself Time

Here’s something I wrote for myself in one of my journal entries:

Give yourself time: Three years, no looking back. No quitting my job yet. You got this. Three years. I promise everything you need to know to leave something lasting in this world are within you, you just need to dig deep enough to come up with it.

— Myself

It’s important to have a relationship with your mind and your goals. To demand overnight success from yourself is just unfair. Be respectful about it and give you and your passions the time they need to develop.

No good will come from rushing the process.

7) Your thoughts are suggestions, your mission is the truth.

At times, what you think about something is not important.

The mission you set yourself on takes precedent. There will be voices and doubts inside of you, driving you to quit, but you need to separate them from the truth of the mission. The mind, like anything, is a too,l and tools can malfunction.

8) When you are about to quit, try again.

As soon as you’re ready to quit, that’s when you need to keep pushing. You are at the bottom of the mountaintop waiting to be an overnight success. Resist the urge to rest on your laurels. Continue what you’re doing and go harder. You owe it to yourself and the world.

9) Accept the help of others, but never compromise your goals.

Fans, supporters, and those who are cheering for you are there because they back the mission you set out on. There’s nothing wrong with accepting their help and support.

But as you succeed, you will find people who will pay you to compromise your morals.

You must avoid this at all costs. Anything earned in this way is not worth the price.

10) Remember why you started.

Appreciation and gratitude will provide infinite motivation.

It was a struggle for me to see the light in the way my life was. As I live and operate in the way I do now, I want every single person on this planet to feel the way I do.

This is why I will pursue this mission with the greatest amount of effort I have to muster. I am aiming to be better, faster, stronger, and more intact to show people there is a better way to live. It took me so long to find that path, but now that I’m here, I will do all I can to do this for others.

That is my Legacy.

What’s yours?
